Comments Policy

Gyronny Herald welcomes thoughtful comments and encourages constructive discussion beneath its articles.

Comments should engage with the subject of the article and with other contributors respectfully. Disagreement, criticism and robust debate are welcome; personal abuse, harassment, threats, discriminatory language or deliberately inflammatory behaviour are not.

Comments may be moderated, edited for technical reasons, or removed where they:

  • contain abuse, threats, harassment or discriminatory material;
  • disclose private or personal information without appropriate justification;
  • are defamatory or appear to make unsupported allegations about identifiable people;
  • consist primarily of spam, advertising or repetitive self-promotion;
  • impersonate another person or organisation;
  • are substantially unrelated to the article or appear intended principally to disrupt discussion;
  • contain material that may breach copyright or other legal rights.

Links are welcome where they genuinely contribute to the discussion, but comments posted primarily to promote a website, product, service or campaign may be removed.

Publication of a comment does not imply endorsement by Gyronny Herald. Responsibility for the views expressed in comments remains with the person who submitted them.

The Editor reserves the right to close comments on individual articles, to moderate discussion, and to remove comments where reasonably considered necessary for the proper management of the publication.

Where a comment raises a correction or substantive editorial concern, readers are encouraged to contact editor@gyronnyherald.com so that it can be considered directly.

This policy may be amended from time to time as Gyronny Herald develops.
