February 24

Well it is nearly eleven months since I found out that I was living with HIV. Yesterday, I was up at the HIV clinic once more. Results CD4= 160%, 8% Viral Load = 60,000 On diagnosis, my CD4 count was 100, but my Viral Load was 29,000. Meds With the news that my viral load was more than double what it was when I was diaganosed – I rethought the issue of medication and was prescribed the same combination as the last lot I tried. That is, Viramune and Truvada. I took them last thing at night last night and … Continue reading February 24

Pray for Ireland’s senior Cardinal

As news is breaking that Ireland’s most senior Cardinal is seriously ill in hospital, let us pray that His Eminence Cahal, Cardinal Daly gets well soon. His Eminence, formerly Lord Archbishop of Armagh and Primate of All-Ireland (having been translated there in 1990 from Down & Connor, and to there from Ardagh and Clonmacnoise in 1982 where he would have known the Longford Cathedral now gutted) retired in 1996 and was succeeded by His Eminence Seán, Cardinal Brady. Our Lady, Queen of Ireland, pray for him. St Patrick, Patron of Ireland, pray for him. St Malachy of Armagh, pray for … Continue reading Pray for Ireland’s senior Cardinal

The Day after World Aids Day 2009

December 1st has come and gone again for the next year and still people don’t even know what the red ribbon is.

I was talking to a friend last night, he told me of his being the only person, at a meeting of over 20 attendees last night, who actually was wearing a red ribbon. He said that this was really because there was no where to buy a red ribbon. Continue reading “December 2”

October 19

This morning I went to see my GP. I had made an appointment last week to see him as I had run out of my antidepressants. I’ve now got another supply for 28 days. When I told him of my continuing pains in my knees, elbows, and other joints he prescribed an anti-inflammatory gel. So that’s two prescriptions. 20mg Citalopram & Ibuprofen gel 5%. Into the HIV Support Centre for some advice and an aromatherapy massage later on in the afternoon. Tomorrow has me up to the HIV clinic once more. Will try and update from in there on what … Continue reading October 19

September 12 – coping or not

It’s Saturday afternoon. Away with the local support centre. It’s a great weekend. But I’m realising how I’ve not accepted nor am I coping with my diagnosis. I walked out of a discussion group. My outlook on life has always been too different. This weekend is just proving it. I want to run away. Just to leVe here and hide. I like the weather. Even lying in the sun. But I don’t want to talk about HIV. Continue reading September 12 – coping or not

The People Living with HIV Stigma Index Today, I completed the Questionnaire for The People Living with HIV Stigma Index at the local HIV Support Centre. The questionnaire asked lots of probing questions but hopefully it will help provide statistical evidence to improve policies, and ensure that these are grounded in the realities of people living with HIV. Continue reading August 8
