I’m amazed: I’m 48

Forty-eight not in years of age but ranking in the Total Politics Blog Awards in the Lib Dem Bloggers category. I really, really, did not expect to be in the top 50 at all. So thank you to everyone who voted for me, and with a new lease of life having rested a bit over the summer, who knows where we all will be next year. Congratulations go to fellow Northern Irish Lib Dem blogger Stephen Glenn, who once more is at number 5. And as we all know, we lost Andrew Reeves this year. So it is great to … Continue reading I’m amazed: I’m 48

Today is brought to you by the numbers 72, 66 and 5…

The Total Politics Blogger Top 100 Lib Dem blogs 2011 list is out. Much to my surprise, Gyronny Herald comes out at number 66, the collaborative Liberal Democrats in Northern Ireland blog comes in at number 72 (up from 75 last year), and Stephen Glenn’s Stephen’s Liberal Journal comes romping in at number 5 which is two up from on last year. The full list can be seen here: There are a few quirks in the list including the interloper The Will Patterson Notebook from the SNP! And lucky Craig Murray being in at number 40 and number 100. I suspect that there … Continue reading Today is brought to you by the numbers 72, 66 and 5…

My renewed blogging and reading of blogs, particularly reading Lib Dem Voice has taken an unexpected turn (hopefully not a twist. Ed.) this morning, as I am now looking into gym membership. What? Yep, you did read that correctly, it’s a tad unlikely one is sure, but, um, with inspiration from Andrew Reeves‘ blog, you might understand why. Another Kerrigan? what is it about the surname Kerrigan and fit blokes? Anyone else remember ‘Sam’ the gay nurse in Casualty? one of the Golden Dozen

Each week Lib Dem Voice publishes a list of its “Golden Dozen”. This week, Northern Ireland takes a quarter of that dozen.

Congratulations to Stephen for being at numbers 1 and 5, I’m amazed to have come in at number 3 this week. Thanks very much to Stephen Tall.

Welcome to the Golden Dozen, and our 188th weekly round-up from the Lib Dem blogosphere … Featuring the seven most popular stories beyond Lib Dem Voice according to click-throughs from the Aggregator (19th – 25th September, 2010), together with a hand-picked quintet, normally courtesy of LibDig, you might otherwise have missed.

Don’t forget: you can sign up to receive the Golden Dozen direct to your email inbox – just click here – ensuring you never miss out on the best of Lib Dem blogging.

As ever, let’s start with the most popular post, and work our way down:

“It is a sad case when someone is forcibly outed and loses their va-va voom as appears to be the case with one of the sharpest minds in the Lib Dem parliamentary team.” See also 6.

2. When the going gets tough, the defectors get going on Jonathan Wallace’s blog.
“She asks that her decision be respected. Okay, we will do that but I say to you Yvonne that you must respect your former colleagues who worked so hard to get you where you are now and who you have now left.”

3. Outrage at action of liberal youth executive on Michael Carchrie Campbell’s Gyronny Herald.
Unimpressed by their endorsement of Tim Farron for President: “I am outraged by this usurpation of the members’ rights.”
