The move by the coalition government in Whitehall towards more transparency may be a step in the right direction, but it needs to be only part of the general move to make government at all levels in the United Kingdom transparent. It is rare of me to be reading the Daily Mail’s website, but the headline about the Tories putting up a candidate in the Oldham East & Saddleworth election following the ruling of the Election Court with regard to Phil Woolas. The Daily Mail seems to think that it was a ‘by-election’ that was tainted. Let’s hope that those responsible for writing headlines could actually attempt to be accurate.
