Equal marriage: why is this so hard?

The Equal Marriage debate in the UK appears to be dividing the country if we were to believe the hype. However, as Conservative MP for Henley, John Howell says on Conservative Home, there will be wider benefits to the country if we legislate and have marriage equality. As Gary Spedding has said in a letter to the Belfast Telegraph, we’re not looking for a separate category of ‘gay marriage’ we’re looking for equal marriage. It’s not that difficult to understand. Recently, I watched Frankie Howerd: Rather You Than Me on BBC iPlayer. Had Frankie Howerd and Dennis Haymer been able … Continue reading Equal marriage: why is this so hard?

Please Sir, how do you define marriage?

The Rt Hon. Michael Gove MP

That’s the question we should all be asking of the man in charge of Education in England (and Cornwall), for according to Julie Henry, Education Correspondent for The Sunday Telegraph, HM Secretary of State for the Education, The Rt Hon Michael Gove MP, has issued guidance that all Free Schools and Academies must teach the importance of marriage. Stephen has problems with language…

Stephen Glenn has made comment about the comments of others surrounding the use of language in the past few days. But perhaps we should question his own use of language… On LGBT+ Lib Dems Northern Ireland he says: In some countries like Spain for example the Priest is not apple to marry anyone (as such) that has been carried out by a government employee already. His sentence does not quite say what I think he meant. My understanding of his argument on this in the past suggests to me that what he may have meant to say is: In some … Continue reading Stephen has problems with language…

posting may be light – 15 weeks

Given the announcement last week of my engagement to Andrew, and that our civil partnership and covenant of commitment will be over the weekend Fri 6  to Sunday 8 May, 2010, posting will be lighter than it has been in recent months. We have a lot to organise. And yet not as much as you would think. But, it is going to take some coordination to bring it all together. Some posting will continue. I will be back. 10 reasons why gay marriage is wrong

I found this on Facebook and thought that it should be posted here

  1. Being gay is not natural. Real Americans always reject unnatural things like eyeglasses, polyester, and air conditioning.
  2. Gay marriage will encourage people to be gay, in the same way that hanging around tall people will make you tall.
  3. Legalizing gay marriage will open the door to all kinds of crazy behavior. People may even wish to marry their pets because a dog has legal standing and can sign a marriage contract.
  4. Straight marriage has been around a long time and hasn’t changed at all; women are still property, blacks still can’t marry whites, and divorce is still illegal. Continue reading “10 reasons why gay marriage is wrong”
