A visitor to our city was walking along North Queen Street last evening, and suffered a homophobic verbal assault in the vicinity of the Chinese takeaway in North Queen Street. He contacted me as he knew of my involvement with the Liberal Democrats in the area and that I am Vice Chair of the LGBT Independent Advisory Group to the Police Service of Northern Ireland. Shore Road Cooperative to close

This morning standing at the bus stop on the way into Belfast city centre, I learnt that my neighbourhood Cooperative store is to close on 28 November. What is not clear is whether the Post Office that is located in it is to be relocated or is to close as well. The signs that are in the shop are big enough to be read from the other side of the road and this prompted a discussion at the bus stop.
