Guide Dog to be trained in N. Ireland thanks to HMP Maghaberry’s donation of £5,000

Amidst the wrangling over the devolution of Policing and Justice to the Northern Ireland Assembly this week the news that HM Prison Maghaberry has made a charity donation of £5,000 to the Guide Dogs charity will probably have been so far under the radar that most of Northern Ireland won’t have seen it.

Guide Dogs for the Blind
A guide dog for the blind will be trained in Northern Ireland thanks to the donation of £5,000 from HM Prison Maghaberry.

Let’s hope that the good that comes from the deal reached at Hillsborough Castle, will be just as beneficial to the community as the Guide Dog that will come from this donation.

The Guide Dogs charity have said that this donation will make it possible for a guide dog to be trained here in Northern Ireland rather than in Scotland as has been the case up until now.
