Well, I have just been sitting watching Mel Brooks’s film The Producers (2005) with my friend Andrew. The Producers is a film about a musical called Springtime for Hitler which has been shown in Israel, Germany, and Broadway (amongst other places). At least, that is what I thought until the end of the film.

All the way through I thought that there had been stage productions of Springtime for Hitler and then at the end, I discover that this is not the case.
I was utterly confused.
Earlier on, during the documentary film I had asked Andrew…
So, presumably there would be a problem putting this musical on in Germany? What with all the Swastikas on the arms and so on….
He answered that it had been on in Berlin – but that the Swastika was changed to being a pretzel (see picture below… )

He also told me that it had been on in Tel Aviv. I thought to myself that Israel had obviously quite come a long way.
This is a major case of what various of my friends(?) now call #PCRMWG – Popular Culture Reference: Michael Won’t Get!
Only now, I understand… Not fair… So disappointed, I wanted to go to see Springtime for Hitler particularly any production with John Barrowman starring as lead tenor, with whom I’ll leave you….
sing the title of this post to the first song that John sings…
