As we begin a new year, many think about the things that they can decide to do in the new year. For me some of these have already been decided. Some are very private, others are much more public.
Two of mine are ones that I want to tell you about.
№ 1. – taking my medications as prescribed
Now this may not seem to be a big deal, nor to be something about which a new year’s resolution need be made. But with me, it certainly is. In the nearly two years since I have known that I am living with HIV I have made choices that have not been good for me in the long run. They seemed good and the right thing to do at the time: but with hindsight they were not.
Therefore, with the help of Andrew and others, I will take all the medications prescribed to me when I need them. This will not be easy. It’s not easy remembering to take meds at particular days and times, but with help it is possible.
№ 2. – taking time for myself
Far too much in recent years I have been out there doing my best to do whatever I can for others. And whilst this is going to continue, it will be balanced by doing things for me. Looking after myself, because if I do not do that – I will be of no use to anyone else.

Best wishes for the New Year! I usually set the reminders on my mobile phone calendar to remind me when to take pills. It might help.
