A priest of whom Jeremy Taylor would approve

All too often, when I’ve been busy all day, I find myself not knowing what to write to post on my blog or my journal. Take today, I was out for coffee with my Scout District Commissioner, then I met another two friends for lunch, picked up a book from The Good Bookshop in Belfast, and came home.
Not much in that today. But, I am looking forward to reading Edgar Turner at 90, edited by John Mann, Columba Press (2010).

As His Grace the Lord Primate of All Ireland, The Most Reverend Alan Harper writes in his foreword, Bishop Jeremy Taylor might have been writing of Robert Edgar Turner when he wrote:

Remember that it is your great duty, and tied on you by many obligations, that you be exemplar in your lives, and be patterns and presidents to your flocks…

Let’s hope that all clergy use that as a guide.
