Sinn Féin minister confirms bus shelters still possible

Today, I received a response from the Private Office of the Minister of Regional Development, Conor Murphy MP MLA, to my query about the provision of bus shelters in the Mountcollyer are of Belfast. It is clear from the response that there is need for further work to be done surrounding the need for bus shelters along the number 2 Metro route. I shall be working with my colleagues to ensure that this is done. There are other avenues open to us for any new bus shelters… read rest of post here. not just the posts but the trains and buses too…

This afternoon while I was visiting the capital, I had a cheque that needed to be trusted to the servants of Her Majesty’s Posts. I visited the Post Office next to St James’s Park Underground Station and came across another ‘customer experience improvement scheme’. Gone are the days of the good old British queue. Now we come in, press a button on a screen, be given a ticket with a number on it, and be asked to sit down on the ‘comfortable’ chairs to await service by one of the post office clerks. Upon being called by the machine to … Continue reading not just the posts but the trains and buses too…

On my way back from Foyle Pride on Saturday by train I noticed that there was an interesting sign on the opposite platform when we had stopped at Coleraine station.

well they do say things come in threes…

The failure of ticketing machines hopefully will be sorted in the weeks to come.

It’s nearly July so in many areas we have flags ‘decorating’ these flagpoles lampposts.  It wouldn’t be so bad if the flags were at full mast on their flagpoles lampposts, but rarely are they at the top. Thus it often appears that we are in permanent mourning for someone. This afternoon as I drove from Parliament Buildings to the city centre I spotted some particular stupidities. Some well-meaning so-called Loyalists have … Continue reading Flags – some oddities, and some stupidities!

Ballymena station needs more parking

This morning I discovered that Northern Ireland Railways has invested in extra parking at Ballymena station. This is in adddition to the original “Park and Ride” that was put there a couple of years ago. However, I have been told about some senior citizens who have had problems getting to the station to use their free Senior Smartpass issued by the Department of Social Development on the train or bus. If they drive down after about 9 o’clock in the morning, they find that there is nowhere for them to park. Does NIR need to build a multi-storey carpark at the … Continue reading Ballymena station needs more parking
