On my way back from Foyle Pride on Saturday by train I noticed that there was an interesting sign on the opposite platform when we had stopped at Coleraine station.
This has the destinations of
Portrush Direct
and
P/Rush via P/Stewart
What could this mean?
Now, this led to much discussion at our table on the Belfast-bound train between Stephen, Andrew, Dave and myself as we could work out what NI Railways means by this sign.
Is the old Culmore Cromore halt which closed in 1973 open once more?
We know that there are problems with the update to Translink‘s website, particularly with Journey Planner* – but creating routes which don’t exist is going a bit far.
*Journey Planner has been updated and now is not working properly… to quote from the Translink website…We are currently experiencing some intermittent technical problems with our Journey Planner. If you do find the Journey Planner slow or unresponsive please feel free to do one of the following:
- Locate the information required in the newly designed timetable section of this website;
- Call our Contact Centre on 028 90 666 630
(Opening hours: Mon-Fri 7am – 8pm and Saturday & Sunday 8am – 6pm) for bus and rail times.- Use the older version of the Journey Planner here.
We hope to have the issues addressed as soon as possible. We are sorry for any inconvenience caused.
I’m sure everyone who uses our only public transport system will agree wholeheartedly with the penultimate sentence.
The corrections made to the original post show what happens when you are blogging with little food in you.

It’s the bus times. I don’t think passenger trains are allowed to use Platform 3 at Coleraine (presumably one of the bay platforms facing Belfast), not that it would be any use to a Portrush train 😉
I think you mean Cromore halt, by the way…

LOL Andy that was part of the debate too. Though I’m sure me and Mícheál both called it a Halt on Saturday.
