abscess nearly healed

It is nearly a month since I was in hospital for surgery to remove an abscess caused by MRSA. I am glad to report that according to the nurse at my local health centre the wound has very nearly healed over. I have been advised to use Tea Tree oil shampoo/shower gel. Whilst it doesn’t smell altogether lovely, it is at least better than having to have salt baths every day. I would like to say a big thank you to all the staff at Belfast’s Royal Victoria Hospital who made my short stay so pleasant, and to all at … Continue reading abscess nearly healed

update on Duncan

Well, the net of prayer has been cast far and wide… As one friend wrote, As the net of prayer extends wider and yet wider, I look forward in confident hope to hearing positive news from you soon. This morning, Duncan’s GP saw him, but little has been done. Of course, we are now waiting on permission to be given to the GP by Duncan to hear anything of the discussions. Aghanistan losses – remember the fallen of all wars…

I was listening to Libera’s recording of I vow to thee my country, sung to the tune written by Gustav Holst known as Thaxted which I had recently purchased on iTunes. Wanting to know more about the lyrics, having sung them many times before – but never having actually looked before I turned to Wikipedia (as one does nowadays). The full words of the poem written by Sir Cecil Arthur Spring-Rice GCMG GCVO are: I vow to thee, my country, all earthly things above, Entire and whole and perfect, the service of my love; The love that asks no question, … Continue reading Aghanistan losses – remember the fallen of all wars…

Stonewall’s key priorities – has Ben Summerskill read them?

Stonewall has made a major error in letting its Chief Executive Ben Summerskill loose at the recent Liberal Democrat conference in Liverpool. His statements are now well known, but it has opened up a can of worms that Stonewall will want to shut. However, I hope that others will join me in looking at what they have said they will do Stonewall’s key priorities for 2010-2011 EDUCATION Challenging homophobia in schools and colleges and underachievement by lesbian, gay and bisexual pupils through development of the Education for All programme. Raising standards through local government, the teaching profession and young volunteers. … Continue reading Stonewall’s key priorities – has Ben Summerskill read them?

MPAC and others campaigned in favour of the Liberal Democrat. Phil Woolas MP in email published in Saddleworth News The above quotation comes from the embattled Labour Member of Parliament for Oldham East & Saddleworth in an email as quoted by Saddleworth News. A quick question for Mr Woolas. authors take fight to hunt

When inviting people to Belfast Liberal Drinks yesterday, I didn’t know what people’s reaction would be. Following correspondence from one member, I have learnt more about PLR than I ever knew before. To be honest, I had not really thought about how authors would be compensated for their books being borrowed from libraries.

#operationevacuate of @stephenpglenn not going quite according to plan – #keygate

We’re finally on the Stenaline HSS between Belfast and Stranraer on the way to Bathgate to transport the former Liberal Democrat Parliamentary Candidate for Linlithgow and East Falkirk (Stephen Glenn) back to his hometown of Bangor (County Down).

However, getting here has not been without some drama. First off, Stephen had difficulty in getting the van booked. Then when he had it booked, he arrived back in Aldergrove and almost as soon as he landed back on Irish soil his mobile telephonic device sounded – a number he did not recognise – and he was asked if that was “Michael Campbell”.
